Ferdinanda Van Gennip M.Div. is a retired teacher and translator. She discovered her passion for ecological spirituality during her theology studiesat the University of St. Michael's College in Toronto. It was the writings of monk and scholar, Thomas Berry, and his focus on the need for a "mutually enhancing earth-human relationship" that inspired her the most. After obtaining her M. Div. in 1993, she eagerly helped organize workshops and retreats on the topic. She was truly excited by Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical "Laudato Si" with its emphasis on "care for our common home., and is encouraged by the growing number of groups adopting it as a faith based source for their climate activism. Her presentations seek to show how connecting with the sacred in the natural world can bring hope and healing to our soul and our world. |
