Wednesday, Apr 9, 2025 11:30am - 3:30pm | Risen |
 Thursday, May 22, 2025 - 11:30am - 3:30pm
Beautifully shot by Oscar winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler at Carson's cottage in Maine, this film is an intimate portrait of America's most successful advocate for the natural world. This documentary style film depicts pioneering environmentalist Rachel Carson in the final year of her life. Struggling with cancer, Carson recounts with both anger and humor the attacks by the chemical industry, the government and the press as she focuses her limited energy to get her message to Congress and the American people about the dangers of Chemical pesticides. Her book Silent Spring ratcheted up their attacks on her but she would not be cowed. She was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor the US government can give a civilian. Hopefully this will encourage us to reflect with new urgency on how we are presently doing our part in taking care of the earth, our Common Home!
The day begins with registration and lunch at 11:30am and ends about 3:30pm.
